think I could play the guitar?

What is the definition of a REAL guitar player, my friend says he can play the guitar, yet all he does is show off 2 or 3 perfected songs. Now that i have a guitar, I need to know how to be a real guitar player

What is good practise on the guitar, for someone who hasent had lessons yet, and can’t read music?
