How to Read Piano Sheet Music For Beginners – 3 Tips on Looking For Patterns
Learning how to read piano sheet music takes time. The more sheet music you read the more familiar it will become. Obviously you need to read each individual note, but I am going to give you 3 Tips on Looking for Patterns. This saves you a great deal of time when you are learning a new piece.
Tip 1 - Looking for patterns is similar to reading English. When you look at a word, you do not read the individual letters - you see the whole word. We can do the same with reading Sheet Music.
Music notes can do one of 3 things -

Learning to play the Piano, re-learning to read music.help?
Um, Hi.
*Incoming walls of text, so if its TL;DR (Too long, Didnt Read) just skip to the bottom and read the **** **** part*
Right now, im in the 11th grade, and want to secretly learn how to piano so I can randomly surprise my parenst by playing a piano whenever we come across one. It would be funny (to me) and would be a shocker to them, which would make all of this worthwhile. However...
In the 6th and 7th grade I used to play the Cello, But i got out of orchestra in the 8th grade because I just got tired of my Orchestra teachers Pessimistic attitude/personality. (She was a real downer, all the time). And i can honestly say, Getting out of Orchestra is something I can add to my list of regrets. Playing an instrument was really fun, and I loved the Cello, and I was always 1st or 2nd Chair on the Cello side of the orchestra room. (She had this tier system where the best players would be closer to 1st chair, and the worst players would be around 8th chair, so me being 2nd chair meant I was the 2nd best cello player. Get it?)
But now, since its been 5-6 years since I've played an instrument, I forgot how to read music.
and im trying to learn the piano through online guides, tutorials, and pretty much anything useful online, printing it out, and practicing it on an electric keyboard my sister left after she went to college. However, Im having trouble reading music.
Im pretty sure if I briefly re-learned how to play the Cello (which will/should be easy, since I still remember some basic stuff. [Theres a "Jam" club at my school where, during club days, during that specific club Period, you just "Jam" on instruments you know how to play, however, you're only allowed to join if you know how to play. As in, you can't join just to learn how to play an instrument, So my former Cello experience would be my way in]) I'll be able to pick up how to read music on a Piano.
so...

Tl;DR..
Should I learn how to play the Piano,an instrument I have no experience on, by relearning how to play the Cello, an instrument where, I have 2 years of experience..5-6 years ago?
OR
should I just STUDY, STUDY, STUDY, STUDY, STUDY until I have piano notes, and music notes, and etc memorized?
---- I'm not sure if that's the best choice since in order to learn an instrument, you kinda have to have a mentor/teacher who will guide you through hands-on, trial-and-error.
--------------But that's not an option since I want to surprise my parents with my newfound piano ability.
