How do you read sheet music for guitar?

Just A Musician asked:

I'm not talking about Tablatures, I'm talking about reading notation. I REALLY want to learn guitar and I don't have the money for lessons. I know how to play chords but I don't know how to read music. Please help me.

I’m trying to learn to read music?

Tom Kaulitz Lvr ♥♥♥♥ asked:

So far I have a decent understanding on measures, beats and the different music notes, (whole notes, quarter notes and half notes)......I'm a total newbie. I can't even really play an instrument yet, though I am learning guitar and learning pretty fast.

Well, I've sorta tried composing my own measures. It's a simple song, with only two chords, but I really like how it sounds, and I wanted to put it to music notes but there's still a couple things I don't get.

Ok, there is a picture to go by.

1. Why are some music notes upside down? Are they the same as regular quarter, half and whole notes or not?

2. What exactly are the different lines for and why are music notes placed on different lines, if like, with my song, you're using only the same two chords?

Thank you!!

“Turkish March” and “Fur Elise” letter notes?

goldengrades asked:

I know how to play piano, and I want to learn the Turkish March and Fur Elise songs. I cannot play well enough to look at sheet music and play fast, so please give the notes for both right hand and left hand for both songs in letter form. Please label which is right hand, left hand, and which song each is. Please do not tell me to wait to become more experienced or to look at sheet music. As I told you, I cannot read sheet music and play the song at the correct speed, nor do I want to wait. These are the songs that I want to learn. Thank you for your cooperation.

how much can i improve my guitar playing if i practice 6 hrs a day for the next 2 months?

Alex asked:

how much can i improve my guitar playing if i practice 6 hrs a day for the next 2 months??
i started playing electric guitar 5-6 months ago. right now i practice about 2 hrs a day every day. ive been told im improving very fast. within 3 months i could play the first half to sweet child of mine by guns n roses as well as wish you were here (pink floyd), knights of cydonia (muse) (solo included, but this is the only solo i know how to play), stairway to heaven intro, and a few other easier songs. my finger strength and dexterity is aslo very good so far. i do various finger exercises especially for my pinky. the only thing i really need to improve alot on is reading music and stuff :( anyway my question is i want to know how much i could learn/improve if i practice 6 hrs a day for thhe next 2 months??? enough to solo maybe?? i only ask b/c i will be starting college in 2 months and i know once i start school, i wont have nearly as much time to practice. so i want to learn as much as i can now while i still have alot of time to practice
