Getting Accepted/Rejected by Berklee College of Music?
JayTee asked:
So I've auditioned and submitted my Fall 2011 Berklee Application 2 months before the deadline (because apparently Seoul, Korea auditions started at Nov.4) Where should I start...? Music...has been a part of me for a while now...I started piano when I was 3 (my mother was a piano teacher.), and started violin when I was 7, and started singing opera and took piano lessons from different teachers for about 10 months or so. I also picked up the cello pretty fast, thanks to violin, I sometimes play cello when there is a cello missing at a performance. I think I'm very well-rounded in music. I'm section leaders in both orchestra and choir. I'm a student director in orchestra. I participated in numerous musical activities, actually every musical activity that was available in school. For my Berklee audition(for voice), that day...I had a really bad sore throat...(it just had to be the day of my audition when I get a bad sore throat...) The night before my audition day, I did everything to make my voice singable as a possible. So I just did my best, and just went with what I had. My audition song honestly didn't go so well, but I think my ear training test, rhythm test, and sight-reading went really well, and plus the interview, I think that went well too. My GPA is about 3.5~3.6 ish, and my SAT score is in the 1800s. My teachers(both music teachers) wrote wonderful letter of recommendations for me, and emphasized the fact that I was a very well-rounded, multi-facile musician. I am exposed to music technology such as Pro Tools and Sibelius. I'm a very notorious student at my high school for being musical talented, and my passion is off-the-chart. But everything is based upon my thinking. I would like to ask you guys if I have a good chance of making Berklee, despite my messed-up audition when I had a bad sore throat.
