How do I learn to read music and play guitar? NO TABS!
I took guitar lessons in high school for about a year. That was over a decade ago and I have no residual guitar skills whatsoever. I have no idea how to read music, but am fascinated by it. I'm VERY good at learning conceptual things by reading books, so if you could recommend a book/website that teaches basic guitar and basic music reading together, that would be great. Alternatively, I could use a website/book that teaches how to read music, and a separate website/book that teaches basic guitar skills. I plan to learn a few basic basic songs/scales then take some lessons.

Isit worth risking doing bad at school, to spend all my time working on possibly being more than mediocre?
I've got 3 things I'd rather do than just be a bore like most people I know:
-Play guitar and get paid enough that I can always play it
-Work on motorcycles and go to Bonneville to set a speed record
-Write comics similar to Tintin, coz I like drawing and writing and I know how if it wasn't for Tintin I'd never have read, I'd have done crap at school and been completely different:) and I'd like to do that for someone else.
-Or I could just be average, if I had to choose a job I'd be a teacher, I could combine this with the 2nd one maybe the 3rd if I wanted I suppose.
Anyway so is it worth spending all my time (like about 10hrs a day) practicing guitar to try and get good enough? I can come up with songs pretty easily, I'm just sitting around and something's happening that makes me think that I can write a song, then I go to my guitar and write one (like last night there was a storm, and I couldn't hear myself think, then power went out (I was home alone) it was silent except for drizzling rain pouring off gutters, and I came up with a kind of sleepy blues-jazz song). I've written about 10 songs so far, not including stuff that I listen to the next day and feel ashamed:). As for skill, I've had my guitar (it's a Squier Strat) for about a month now, and after 2 weeks I could play about 20 songs, the hardest one was the intro to Crazy Train by Randy Rhoads/Ozzy Osbourne, then I started lessons and now I'm learning theory and technical stuff like scales and chords, and I am getting better at reading music, but I don't think my teacher's that impressed with me, he made a point today of saying how we could have done this and that but we weren't coz I hadn't learned my chord transitions enough. But I practice heaps, on the holidays I played 10-15hrs every day. n by the way I'd prefer drums and I've tried them and found them very easy and fun, but my parents won't let me get them. And I don't want to just be a rockstar n get drunk party n have sex every night, I wanna play guitar n let people hear it.
With the comic drawing stuff, I like drawing, and although I only started about this year (I'm just 14, yr9) I can pick it up with less practice than lots of other stuff, like sports (it took me about 2-3 years before I was good enough to beat anyone good at tennis:). I've had to write heaps of stories and stuff for school, I'm good at that. I can draw caricatures, city skylines, country scenes, weapons, guitars, cars, I'm still learning perspective, and I haven't tried lots of other stuff yet.
And for the motorcycle thing, thats kind of like a last resort to me if I end up not being much good at the other two. That's not really something that I have to give up all my time to practice for, I can ride a bike fast and do a few tricks, and know lots about motorcycles and cars.
So do you reckon its worth risking doing next to nothing at school and homework and ending up being an .umm.. upper class layabout for the chance that I could do something more exciting than everyone else seems to? i dont care if im not rich coz most rich people just piss me off coz they're snobs. Like what's the chance that I'll end up doing either the guitar or writing stuff, if I work at it for the next 3 years in all my time? I know lots of people don't make it coz they don't risk it, so I'm not sure if I should risk it or not.
and what category would you post this in?
it also probably means no help from my parents too, they want me to have normal job etc
and i'd like to help people too, thats regardless though
My English is not this bad normally, it's just Yahoo. English is my best subject.

Searching for a song and or music video. read details?
OK.. I remember seeing this video along time ago.. but could never find out the artist name or song. I hope this helps some of you. the only scene of the music video I remember well is: There is a car with a man driving... and in the passenger seat there is a stuffed teddy bear.. head banging to fast beat music (techno/house) thats pretty much all I can remember. Any more info or details of what the song or artist is called would be great.. thanks so much
