What is the difference between a professional pianist and someone who is just learning to play the piano?
Santa-Have u been good or bad?? asked:
I said that my new years resolution would be to learn how to read music and play the piano, well in the past I mastered a lot of songs that I forgot how to play them because my lazy self stopped practicing the piano well should I say I have one of those electric keyboards with a key lighting system on it,when you press any key it lights up till u release it,anyway,I can sit down and look at sheet music and I will have no idea of how to play it,well I am a high school graduate and I had a class called mixed chorus and the teacher could play any song on the grand piano, plus he was very very good at playing real fast and making no mistakes,he could sit down at the piano and look at sheet music and he could start playing beautiful songs,he was a professional, when I asked him about how did he learn to play the piano he said that he practiced a lot and he went to college for 4 years,I wanna teach myself how to learn the notes and things, in the past I have
printed a lot of things from the Internet telling me the names of the notes and what they look like and things and so on and so on,well I still have what I printed up and I find it to be very helpful,
I wanna know should I just give up practicing piano or should I keep practicing and reading about it,I know music is my gift and God wants me to pranctice more and more.

how to read music fast
There’s a guy on PBS that teaches piano, but not in the classical style. It sounds like what you are looking for. His name is Scott Houston “Playing Piano In A Flash” I don’t know if he has DVD’s or books or anything, but try Googling him and see what you find. KEEP PRACTICING!!
