if you know how to read music do you know how to read music for guitar?

It can help if you only work with sheet music.
Or you can learn to read tablature (which is WAY easier imo)
^You can look up songs you want to learn.

Learn How to Read Music Notes
well guitar sheet music is usually written with the fret’s and show whether they are opened or closed. It’s differen’t than learning regular music generally.
they do make books though with the straight up music staff however.
tabs are fairly simple to read, I like them in the fraction format but you don’t usually see those.
the fraction format is like this: 1/6- 1st string 6th fret.

how to read music
Depends what kind of guitar music you get. If you get regular sheet music, then yeah, you’ll be able to read it. But, tab music is completely different. And so is reading the chords. Good luck.

Learn How to Read Music
Well I use tabs but I mainly play by ear so you don’t necessarily need to read music to play it but I use this site for tabs
