what is the course-load for a music business major?

5dfggf4f asked:

I was looking at Fredonia's music business program and found this:

http://www.fredonia.edu/som/musicbusiness.htm

I also found something that said I needed to have some musical ability, be able to read music, and I will have to take music and instrumental classes. Is anyone here a music marketing/merchandising/business major and able to tell me what I need to take? I can't really play any instrument and don't know how to read music.

  1. How to Read Music Hub

Each college’s course catalog will list all classes required and electives needed for each major they offer. Some have this on line. Many HS counselor have them in their office from near by colleges.

You should check to see if this requires an audition to major in. Call and talk to someone in the music business department. See what info they can send you.

  2. Learning to Read Music

If you want to attend, take a few sessions with a private music teacher at least a month before classes begin. It should take no more than two hours to learn to read music. One of the easiest marching band instruments to learn to play is the baritone horn. It may be the easiest instrument as you only have three buttons and about five lip adjustments to learn. The lip work is much easier than on a smaller instrument such as the trumpet. With two or three hours a day of practice (not consecutive), you should be able to get by on it in a month.
