Music Theory for Beginners

Practicing by yourself can only get you so far. However, your playing for only six months is quite impressive. My advice would be to practice as much as you like until you start school and then practice when you can while in school. I think that scheduling to practice, like a class, would be beneficial to you. Also, if you can find people who are better than you at playing, play with them. You would be shocked how much players want to teach each other.

Music Reading

With private instruction from a great teacher you could make tremendous progress. On your own, you will most likely hit a point where you sill get stuck and bog down.
You are very proud of what you have accomplished. Do not ruin it by refusing help.
