no,u can ‘play by ear’
just play it like u hear it
but its easier when u can read music
but if u cant read music,its still possible

no, not at all, it might help though. but usually if you want to learn a song on guitar, you get guitar tabs. they are written like this

E———–3————————————-
each dotted line represents one of the six strings on the guitar. each number is the fret number. if 2 or more numbers seem to be on top of each other that means to strum all those strings at one. above i have made the tab for the G chord. thats the first chord i learned on guitar

Yeah, its really easy to learn to read music though. Sams Club and other music stores have this software that shows u how to read music and it works. If you can read music, you can play anything you want.
