How much information does the brain have to have in order for a person to master the piano & reading music?
I'm your PRIVATE DANCER asked:
How much information does the brain have to process and have in order for a person to master piano and is able to look at a piece of music and start playing it and then play song after song with out messing up,I don't understand how a pianist can play the piano fast, keep their hands moving and have their eyes glued to the music and and operate the pedals all at the same time.

Well, you gotta really be gifted because I’ve played piano for 17 years, and still I am not even close to perfor any of those stuffs that you mentioned.

It baffles my mind too! I play the flute…I’ve played for 15 years. I can read the treble clef all day long but with piano, to try to read two lines telling both of my hands to play different things- I just can’t wrap my head around that.
I am secretly jealous of all piano players.

It isn’t a matter of how much information, it’s a matter of practice. Vladimir Horowitz, a great concert pianist, once said that if he didn’t practice every day, he could tell the difference in his playing; if he didn’t practice for two days (I think it was two days), his family could tell the difference; if he didn’t practice for a week, his audience could tell the difference.
