Rate my guitar progress (1 year)?

I've been playing guitar for exactly a year as of a few days ago..based on these details please tell me how I'm doing.

First off, I only consider being able to "play" a song, being able to play it perfectly. I don't settle for errors. If I'm going to play a song at a gig I best be able to play it perfectly. Don't badmouth me that everyone makes mistakes, because the way I see it, if you can't play a song like the original, you can't play it.

Scales: Don't know many of these unfortunately..All major..minor pentatonic..and some others

Chords: I know all of the following:major..minor (to include 2 different variations)..maj7, sus4, 7, m7.

Songs: I can play the following songs (read the 2nd paragraph if you havent):

RHCP - Californication
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven (with a few mistakes)
Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child o' Mine (intro part)
Oasis - Wonderwall
Blink 182 - All the Small Things
RHCP - Snow (not quite at full speed)
.........and a bunch of other simple chord songs like: Viva la Vida, How far we've come, plenty more...

I am not perfect with bar chords yet but I'm working on it (practicing Reel Big Fish - Beer).

My right hand tapping is pretty fast..I just can't rip a solo like Slash.

I know some music theory..I can read music in treble not bass clef (from playing trumpet).

I think you have come far from one year of playing. I have a friend who has never taken guitar lessons, and he has been playing for a year. He practices everyday and happens to play by ear. He basically plays all the songs you listen and has learned how to shred really really well. He is very good, and since you guys have similar songs that you have learned, I would say you have come far and are really good:)

    Keep it up :)

  3. Sight Reading Music

    not bad.
I’ve been playing for a year and a half, and I’m a step ahead of you. I’m on “Fade to Black” currently.
