Guitar Lessons & not knowing how to read music?
Natie asked:
So I want to to learn how to play the guitar but I don't know how to read music. Will this be a big problem? I learned several yrs ago but it never stuck with me. How can I learn to read music, will I have to take a separate lesson to learn?
I know it depends on the lesson-giver, but in general what do you think?
Thanks a lot!

Music Theory for Beginners
Well when I first took guitar, my teacher first taught me notations and then tablature, but I would say it’s fine your teacher would understand if you don’t know how to read music its easy too.

Learning to Read Music
well you can always learn tabs. they are pretty easy to get a hang of. the only bad thing is that most of them dont give you the rhythm.

how to read music
If you knew how to read music before then I think it will all come back to you. If the sheet music becomes a problem they have a form of guitar music called tablature. Easy to read just 6 lines…1 line per string. the # on the line tells you which fret to hold on which string. Pretty straight forward. Good luck and never give up!
