Does anyone know a good site to go to to learn how to read music ?

mojos1966 asked:

When I was in junior high, the teacher of the select choir of senior high heard my voice and invited me to the senior select choir. This was unheard of...Anyways.
Bless her heart she was a beautiful woman and so impressed with my voice that she thought I was the next Linda Ronstadt...lol
ME !!
Anyways...She tried to teach me to play the piano, but for some reason I just couldn't understand how to read music, I just never could...
She finally gave up on trying to teach me to play (we took second in nationals that year by the way, the judges told my teacher that it was that fantastic soprano voice [me] that put us in second out of 48)...
Wow, thios is getting long...To the point...
I lost my job of 15 years two months ago...I won't start my new job until October (don't worry, I'm financially set for now)...And the last few weeks I have all these beautiful songs going through my head...But I don't know how to set them to paper...I truely believe that there are some really powerful and beautiful songs in my head and I would love to share them with the world but I can't write or even understand how to read music !! Someone direct me to a site that can train my brain to put my ideas on paper ?
Thankyou Sarah, but she's since gone, a stroke I think....She was an angel...I was the oddball kid, two years younger than everyone else in class but she needed my voice...soprano, soprano 1, soprano 2, and even tenar when needed...
I sing kareoke sometimes and I always get a standing O bt I'm ugly, so I can never be a star...But since I've had this time off from working...My brain is storming with songs for some reason, never happened before...I'm checking out the sites you've suggested now...I'm not out for money or fame...But I loooove music, good music, so much....I want to make my mark.. :-)

  1. learn to read music

i had a similar experience in college when a nun voluntarily asked to train me in vocal and piano. i did and did a solo in front of the school then i quit on her and she graded me a C. my how i wished i stuck it out.but when i had a brainstorm for a song in the night or anytime i used a cassette recorder and hummed or sang the melody to the music in my head- like those rare moments that can happen at any time-so train your self for those rare moments.so then my friend played guitar and we collaborated until it was close to my memory, and it worked out well.we wrote several songs he played on tour too. for now here is a site that might get yo on the path to reading music-have fun and please don’t quit on her-if she plays piano she would be able to help too if you can locate her sorry about your job but sometimes the good lord has other plans for us
