How to Sight Read Music
I talked about it to my guitar teacher, who has played in stadiums and has a band on the side. He said the only benefit there is to reading music is to earn money. He said that when he needed money or just wanted to play he’d perform at a church with the church’s band where pretty much every time he’d have to read sheet music. He also said that there really wasn’t any other upside to it pretty much said that if you don’t have to don’t.
My teacher’s been playing for over 35 years and is very accomplished, I’d trust his advice and you should too. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Learn How to Read Music Notes
Reading music is the basis of all music….yes alot of musicians play and play good not knowing how to read music but the best musicians know how to read it gives you a leg up on all of your different abilities as a musician you can play any insturment damn near if you can read music. look at phil collins awesome pianist, drummer, sax……so on and so forth he can read music is the point I have played drums for ten years and i can lay down a major aural assult on anyone ears but i wish i would of learneed to read ten years ago…..i am trying to do it now …….believe me musicians who have the ability to play by ear is uncanny but reading is the roots man
