On Bass Guitar while reading music how do I use the key signature to find the notes to play?

Well if its a common song then i would go to ultimateguitar.com and look it up (if you know how to read tabs).

Figure out which position is comfortable for you to play the whole piece and do it from there. I would always default to the lowest one.
