What prior knowledge is needed to study music (and hopefully succeed) in college?
kenzie c asked:
I am a junior in high school looking towards college, and I am wondering: what do I need to know regarding music theory, reading, writing etc., in order to be functional in a college class? I play the guitar (and dabble with drum set and steel drums) and have played for a little under two years but when it comes to theory I learn very fast.

You can come into it with nothing and if the university is worth anything, you wont be at any disadvantage and will know just as much coming out as anyone else, you just might have to try a bit harder. Their job is a teach and train you, not to ensure that you already know everything about your major.
